ABOUT INTERSTITIAL LUNG DISEASE (ILD)
Interstitial Lung Disease is a broad category of chronic lung disorders characterised by inflammation and scarring (fibrosis) of the tissue surrounding the air sacs in the lungs. This scarring makes it difficult for the lungs to transfer oxygen into the bloodstream, leading to symptoms such as shortness of breath, chronic cough, and fatigue. ILD can be caused by various factors, including autoimmune diseases, environmental exposures, or certain medications, and sometimes the cause is unknown (idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis).

- Bronchoscopy and lung biopsy (surgical or cryo-biopsy) for tissue analysis when needed

- Medication management, including corticosteroids, immunosuppressants, and anti-fibrotic drugs like nintedanib and pirfenidone.
